Downtown on Ludlow Street, Stella Filante (shooting star) is a boutique set over 3 levels. A solution was needed to draw attention from the street through the narrow storefront to the bright open gallery at the rear. The entrance is compressed even further with the application of a rich materiality; antique spruce boards salvaged from barns upstate, CNC milled revealing the unweathered wood inside. Stars are drawn from within the old timber to float above its surface creating an intimate constellation in which the abstracted patterns can be read.
